Miguel Ruiz-Canela, BS, MPH, PhD is originally from Lucena (Córdoba, Spain). He holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Granada, a Master of Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (University of London) and a PhD from the University of Navarra. He has completed the ESAH (Higher Open Studies of Hospitality) postgraduate course in chef de partie.
He is currently Professor and Director of the Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Navarra (Pamplona, Spain).
He has published nearly 300 articles in scientific journals and has participated in numerous national and international conferences. He is involved in several research projects related to the Mediterranean diet, including the PREDIMED-Plus and PREDIMAR studies. He also leads several projects on culinary medicine, including the European project Cook2DIAbeat funded by Erasmus+, the SUKALMENA-InAge study in collaboration with the Basque Culinary Centre and the n-CHEFS study (Nutritional and Culinary Habits to Empower Families through Healthy and Sustainable Lifestyles).
