Mediterranean Diet Roundtable®
celebrates 10 Years of Advancing Healthy, Sustainable Eating in America with Virtual Event on November 20th
We did it! The Mediterranean Diet Roundtable® (MDR®) proudly marked 10 years of activity advancing awareness and adoption of the Mediterranean lifestyle across the United States with a special virtual celebration on November 20, 2025. Since 2015, the MDR has become a driving force in shaping the U.S. food landscape through education, international culinary culture, scientific dialogue, and strategic partnerships.
Since its inception, the MDR has hosted more than 55 signature events bringing together thousands of participants, including world-renowned scientists, foodservice professionals, policymakers, and food industry leaders. These gatherings have served as platforms to deepen understanding of the Mediterranean Diet — defined by abundant fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, fish, and extra virgin olive oil — and to translate its evidence-based benefits into practical culinary, health, and commercial opportunities.
In the United States, the Mediterranean eating pattern is increasingly recognized as a model for heart health, metabolic balance, chronic disease prevention, and long-term well-being. Scientific research consistently ranks the Mediterranean Diet as the healthiest and most sustainable dietary pattern due to its strong association with lower risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, cognitive decline, and overall mortality.
“MDR’s decade-long work has helped translate global science into meaningful change in U.S. foodservice and institutional menus, empowering consumers and professionals alike to embrace a lifestyle that is wholesome, flavorful, and sustainable,” said MDR founder Daniela Puglielli.
The virtual celebration on November 20th featured a lively community of scientists, industry innovators, and champions who have contributed to the Roundtable’s mission — reinforcing a shared commitment to improve public health, broaden culinary horizons, and inspire a new generation of Mediterranean eating advocates.
