Mediterranean Diet Roundtable® announces First Prestigious Annual Awards Ceremony at the World Bank on May 7, 2026
The Mediterranean Diet Roundtable® (MDR®) proudly announces its inaugural Annual Mediterranean Diet Awards Ceremony, to be held on May 7, 2026, at the World Bank in Washington, D.C.
This landmark celebration will honor the individuals, organizations, and leaders whose dedication has advanced healthy, delicious, and sustainable eating patterns inspired by the Mediterranean lifestyle, rooted in tradition, science, and mindful living. The MDR Awards will spotlight pioneers whose efforts are transforming the way Americans think about nourishment, community, and longevity.
Hosting the ceremony at the World Bank underscores a powerful message: health is wealth. As the global financial institution continues to champion wellbeing as a core component of sustainable development, its collaboration with the MDR exemplifies how robust nutritional strategies are essential to the economic and social prosperity of nations. For decades, the World Bank has embraced concepts aligned with MDR’s mission, recognizing that healthier populations contribute to stronger, more resilient economies and thriving communities.
“We are thrilled to honor changemakers who have woven Mediterranean principles into their work, from public health initiatives and culinary innovation, to educational outreach and food systems transformation,” said MDR founder Daniela Puglielli. “Our partnership with the World Bank reflects a shared vision where eating well is not just a personal choice, but a global imperative for collective wellbeing.”
The Awards Ceremony will feature distinguished guests from public health, culinary, academic, and policy communities and will include a Mediterranean tasting experience celebrating the region’s rich gastronomic heritage.
The full program and disclosure of the Awardees will be disclosed by April 15. The MDR is a multidisciplinary thought leader dedicated to promoting the Mediterranean lifestyle as a blueprint for healthy eating and sustainable living in America. Through signature events, scientific dialogue, and strategic partnerships, the MDR fosters knowledge, appreciation, and adoption of Mediterranean-inspired food choices that benefit health, culture, and commerce.
