In September 2019, MDR took part in a prestigious think tank organized by the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University.
The event, titled “Mediterranean Diet: Promotion and Dissemination of Healthy Eating” took place on September 16 and 17 at Fay House in the quaint Radcliffe Yard. The agenda included several sessions on mega-trends, latest scientific reports, and the most important challenges to healthy eating in modern society and what strategies could help overcome these barriers. The presentations included were presented by amazing national and international scholars, college and university award-winning dining programs, workplace cafeterias, hospitals, chefs and even the military.
Important topics addressed were: Cultural sensitivity and inclusivity: how can we best adapt traditional Mediterranean diet principles to various ethnic and regional preferences across the U.S. ? And What are the best ways to promote Mediterranean Diet principles in workplaces, schools, hospitals, other institutions (e.g. the military) and the food service industry? The entire group left elated and energized by the discussion, whose white paper will be released in 2020.
