Fil Bucchino is a Florence-born, Toronto-bred, ex-punk-rock-playing, BSc holding (Biomedical Sciences), documentarian, educator and entrepreneur, who is “Obsessed with Olive Oil.” (The name of the award-winning documentary that he hosted and co-produced.)
In 2016, Fil founded Abandoned Grove, with the sole goal to “protect the grove,” rejuvenate groves across the world and re-cultivate the connection to the land, people, and community.
Enrolled in the International Register of O.N.A.O.O. Professional Tasters, and appointed by O.N.A.O.O. to represent the renowned school’s first international chapter in Canada in 2017. Fil is also one of few international tasters registered in the Italian National Directory of Virgin and Extra Virgin Olive Oil Experts at the C.C.I.A.A. of Florence.
Fil is an international contest judge, collaborates with many of the top culinary personalities and institutions worldwide and has contributed to various olive oil publications.
For almost 20 years, Fil has been a passionate communicator and an avid promoter of extra virgin olive oil, focusing on education, the art of production, sustainability, and health benefits.
