Dr. Antoni Caimari, scientific coordinator of the Biotechnology Area-EURECAT. BSc in biology and BSc in biochemistry. PhD in nutrition and metabolism, with an international stage at the university of Wageningen (The Netherlands), studying the molecular mechanisms involved in body weight control in adipose tissue and peripheral mononuclear cells –PBMC-. Dr. Caimari has expertise in the design, realization and supervision of nutritional studies in both animals and humans, in biomarker detection and in the use of transcriptomics, metabolomics and metagenomics. He has participated in more than 30 R&D&I projects in the fields of biotechnology, food, nutrition, dietetics and health. Dr. Caimari was the PI of a Spanish project focused on the metabolic programming effects of polyphenols (IMPROBES; AGL2010-19585). Currently is the project coordinator of the European project MED4youth (Mediterranean Enriched Diet for tackling Youth Obesity; PRIMA call) and the technical coordinator of the European project PREVENTOMICS (H2020 programme), which applies metabolomics and artificial intelligence to personalized nutrition. He is co-author of 46 scientific articles and 3 book chapters, and he co-directed a doctoral thesis focused on studying how fruit consumption out of season can predispose to obesity.
